At Xequals, we believe that real change in the tech industry comes from the ground up. That’s why we were thrilled to host the recent Genesia Girls Hackathon at our Wellington office, a grassroots event empowering women to step into tech with confidence, creativity, and community.

This wasn’t just another industry meetup. It was a weekend of late nights, bold ideas, and deep collaboration. The energy in the room was electric as teams of wāhine brought projects to life, from early concept to working prototype, with mentorship and support from across the local tech ecosystem.

By opening our space, we weren’t just offering desks and wifi. We were backing a kaupapa we believe in: making space for more diverse voices in tech. It's something we’re deeply committed to, not only through one-off events, but through long-term involvement with initiatives that move the dial.

POWER Up! Game Jam: What’s Next

Our involvement doesn’t stop there. Next up, we’re proud to be part of POWER Up! - an international game jam taking place this October, designed to spotlight women in game development and grow a global network of creative talent.

Just like the Genesia Girls Hackathon, POWER Up! is about creating pathways, visibility, and real opportunities for women in tech and we’re here for it.

We’re honoured to support these communities and excited to keep collaborating with the people who make them thrive.
