The Situation
The New Zealand Game Developers Association (NZGDA) maintained an external member platform but required members-only private pages on their WordPress website. They sought a solution that would let members securely access these pages without requiring separate WordPress accounts.
The Challenge
NZGDA needed a login system that could seamlessly authenticate users through their CRM’s API and automatically assign the appropriate WordPress role. The solution had to be simple for both users and administrators, ensuring ease of use without duplicating account management efforts.
The Solution
A custom WordPress plugin was developed, featuring a login form that connects directly to the CRM API. This plugin verifies member credentials and, upon successful authentication, creates a WordPress session with a designated user role. The user is then logged in with access to the private pages. Administrators can effortlessly deploy the login form anywhere on the site using a shortcode, requiring no additional setup or maintenance.
The Results
The plugin delivered a frictionless experience for both members and site administrators. Members can now log in with their CRM credentials and access exclusive content without managing separate accounts. Administrators benefit from streamlined operations, as no manual user creation or role assignment is needed on WordPress. The integration significantly improved member engagement with private site content while maintaining robust security and simplicity.
We have since collaborated with the NZGDA on various projects, namely the new global game jam for women - powerup.koia.nz
